[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Regarding First Lady Kim Keon-hee's decision to visit sick children instead of participating in the spouse program during President Yoon Seok-yeol's Southeast Asia tour, criticism has arisen from the opposition. In response, Kim Ki-hyun, a ruling party leadership candidate, called it "unreasonable stubbornness."

On the 14th, Kim posted on his social network service (SNS), "When the image of First Lady Kim holding and caring for a child with congenital heart disease was revealed, the Democratic Party's nitpicking was so absurd it was unbearable to watch," he said.

He added, "This is not some 'Jeong-Seon-Geon-Cham' (a phrase meaning 'if Kim Jung-sook does it, it's charity; if Kim Keon-hee does it, it's a disaster'), so where else do you see such unreasonable stubbornness? In the past, when photos of Kim Jung-sook's volunteer activities surfaced, people sang embarrassing praises like 'Such humility and sincerity are only possible for those with high self-esteem, altruism, and compassion.' Now, what face do they have to recklessly open their mouths?"

Kim raised his voice comparing the actions of Kim Jung-sook, wife of former President Moon Jae-in, and Kim Keon-hee. He said, "Compared to Mrs. Jung-sook, who abused the position of First Lady for her own bucket list, Kim Keon-hee's recent charitable actions deserve praise a thousand times over. Isn't the Democratic Party ashamed of having worshipped a First Lady who, under the guise of her position, chased after world-class UNESCO cultural heritage tourist sites like Angkor Wat in Cambodia, the Taj Mahal and Humayun's Tomb in India, Prague in the Czech Republic, Hoi An in Vietnam, and St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican as if she were a sacred treasure?"
