Players Who Cried and Laughed in the Final KLPGA Tour Qualifying Tournament Next Year An Song-yi, who secured her tour card for next season by finishing second in the final match of the 2022 season, the SK Shielders-SK Telecom Championship.

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Taewon] At the final event of the 2022 Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour, the SK Shielders·SK Telecom Championship, players experienced mixed fortunes over next year's tour cards. In a competition held under heavy rain, the players fiercely competed for the cut line at 60th place in the prize money rankings, rivaling the intensity of the battle for the championship.

Among the players who stood out in the final round of the tournament, which concluded on the 13th, was An Song-yi (32), who was as notable as the winner Park Min-ji (25). An Song-yi, who started the final round tied for second place, recorded an even-par 72. Although she did not lower her score, she maintained her position as other competitors fell behind with many over-par scores due to the harsh weather conditions.

Before the tournament, An Song-yi was positioned at 60th in the season prize money rankings, right on the cut line for next year's tour card. The difference between her and the 61st place was only about 1.6 million KRW, but by finishing second in this tournament, she comfortably secured her tour card for next year.

The player who wrote a dramatic story for the tour card was Jeong Ji-min2 (26). Before this tournament, Jeong Ji-min2 was ranked 62nd in the prize money standings. If things had continued as they were, she would have had to participate in the qualifying tournament starting on the 15th.

However, Jeong Ji-min2 secured her place on the tour with a miraculous performance on the final day. She recorded a 3-under-par 67, the daily best score, and climbed 32 places from 49th the previous day to finish tied for 17th. This last-day turnaround lifted her prize money ranking to the cut line at 60th place.

On the other hand, Seo Eo-jin (21) slipped from 57th to 61st in the prize money rankings, putting her in a position where she must compete in the qualifying tournament starting on the 15th to retain her tour card. Meanwhile, Kim Hee-jun (22), who was ranked 61st before this tournament, withdrew midway through the event.
