Completion of 8.4km Upo Wetland Life Trail and 2.7km Half Course, Open to All Ages and Genders
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Wook] The 13th Upo Wetland Life Trail Walking Competition, hosted by Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, and organized by the Changnyeong Saemaeul Association, will be held on the 19th at the outdoor stage of the Upo Wetland Ecology Center and around the Upo Wetland area.
The Upo Wetland Life Trail Walking Competition began in 2010. It was not held in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19, so it will be held this year after a three-year hiatus.
The event consists of a full course starting from the outdoor stage of the Upo Wetland Ecology Center, walking the 8.4 km Upo Wetland Life Trail (taking about 2 hours and 30 minutes), and a half course returning from Sajipo Embankment, 2.7 km (taking about 1 hour and 30 minutes), allowing people of all ages and genders to participate.
Participants can register on-site from 9 a.m. on the day of the event, and participation is free of charge.
At the walking competition venue, there will be tastings and sales of local agricultural specialties, as well as firefighting equipment exhibitions and experiences by the Changnyeong Fire Station.
Officials from the county and the Changnyeong Saemaeul Association said, “We hope everyone enjoys a healing time walking the Upo Wetland Life Trail, which holds the primeval mystery under the clear autumn sky.”
At the nearby Upo Wetland Ecology Experience Center, the 6th Ecotourism Festival hosted by the Ministry of Environment will be held from the 18th to the 19th, where visitors can enjoy ecological experiences of 29 ecotourism areas nationwide and also receive generous prizes through a raffle.
