[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Lotte Homeshopping announced on the 10th that it will hold a "Kimjang Grand Sale" until the 31st of next month, offering discounts on kimjang ingredients such as salted napa cabbage and red pepper powder, as well as kimchi refrigerators, in preparation for the kimjang season amid high inflation.

Due to poor crop yields caused by adverse weather conditions this year, the prices of major kimjang raw materials, including napa cabbage and radish, have risen sharply compared to the previous year. In response, Lotte Homeshopping planned a special exhibition across all channels, including TV and online, to help customers prepare for kimjang reasonably and reduce their burden.

Salted napa cabbage has been available for pre-order since last month, and packaged kimchi, which has recently seen a recovery in supply, is also being sold at reasonable prices. On TV home shopping broadcasts, popular brands' large-capacity kimchi refrigerators are offered at discounted prices along with free gifts.

The Kimjang Grand Sale held on the online shopping mall "Lotte iMall" categorizes over 300 products needed for kimjang, such as salted napa cabbage, red pepper powder, seasoning fillings, various vegetables, and meat for boiled pork, by category. It selectively sells popular products from 17 packaged kimchi brands, including "Jongga Jip," "CJ Bibigo," and "Hong Jin Kyung The Kimchi." Products like "Jongga Jip Poggi Kimchi," "Daebok Poggi Kimchi," and "Neulpumeun Poggi Kimchi" are offered at exclusive discounted prices 20% lower than usual, and up to 15% additional points are provided through the "Food One Day" event held every Thursday.

During the event period, the live TV home shopping broadcasts will focus on airing Winia Dimchae kimchi refrigerators more than 10 times, offering discounts and various benefits such as free gifts. Until the 10th of next month, the "National Representative Dimchae" event will showcase the largest capacity model of 551ℓ at a special discounted price exclusively in the industry, and customers who purchase will receive a freezer as a free gift.

Kim Yutaek, head of Lotte Homeshopping's e-Living division, said, "We planned this special exhibition to provide kimjang-related products with reasonable benefits to ease customers' burden of kimjang prices amid high inflation," adding, "We will continue to introduce various special exhibitions that can reduce the burden of shopping basket prices in the future."
