Police Investigate Lee Rae-jin Following Complaint Against Former President Moon for 'Audit Law Violation'

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] The Anti-Corruption and Public Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency summoned Lee Rae-jin (56), the brother of the 'West Sea shooting' public official, as a complainant and investigated him for about two hours on the 9th.

Lee filed a complaint with the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office on the 7th of last month, accusing former President Moon Jae-in, former National Intelligence Service Director Park Ji-won, and former National Security Office Director Seo Hoon of violating the Board of Audit and Inspection Act for not responding to the Board of Audit and Inspection's investigation.

The prosecution judged that the allegation was not within the scope of the prosecutor's investigation and transferred the case to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on the 18th of the same month. Lee's attorney, Lawyer Kim Ki-yoon, explained after the investigation, "Former President Moon responded to the Board of Audit and Inspection's written investigation notice by saying it was 'rude,' but Lee testified to the police that being rude cannot be a legitimate reason to refuse an audit."

He added, "The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, which is investigating the 'West Sea public official shooting' case, plans to additionally file a complaint against former Director Park within a day or two after summoning him for investigation, accusing former President Moon of abuse of power, neglect of duty, and falsification of official documents."
