[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Nexon Games announced on the 9th that it recorded sales of 46.1 billion KRW and an operating profit of 9 billion KRW in the third quarter of this year. Sales increased by 336% compared to the same period last year, marking the highest quarterly figure ever, and operating profit turned positive. Net profit also turned positive, recording 10 billion KRW.
This performance is attributed to the success of "Blue Archive" in the Japanese market and the results of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) "Hit2," which was released in the domestic market last August.
In particular, "Hit2" became the first sequel based on a mobile game to achieve the number one spot in domestic Google Play sales, proving the potential and competitiveness of the mobile game IP.
Although operating expenses increased by 19% compared to the previous quarter due to increased personnel costs and additional office leases, the strong performance of live games such as Blue Archive and the launch effect of the new title Hit2 offset the increased costs.
Nexon Games is currently developing various platform and genre games including "First Descendant" (root shooter), "Veiled Expert" (third-person shooter), and "Godsome" (MMORTS).
A Nexon Games official stated, "There is a high possibility of financial performance improvement due to the success of live games such as Hit2, Blue Archive, Sudden Attack, and 'V4,' as well as new releases like 'First Descendant' scheduled for next year."
