North Korea Resumes Provocation After Four Days... Fires One Short-Range Ballistic Missile into East Sea

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hee-jun] North Korea resumed military provocations by launching a missile after four days. It is analyzed to be aimed at the U.S. midterm elections, and it also appears to be a response to South Korea's Taeguk Exercise.

According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff on the 9th, North Korea launched one short-range ballistic missile (SRBM) toward the East Sea from the Sukchon area in South Pyongan Province at around 3:31 p.m. The military is analyzing detailed specifications such as the missile's speed, flight distance, and altitude.

A Joint Chiefs of Staff official said, "The military is strengthening surveillance and vigilance, maintaining close cooperation between South Korea and the U.S., and keeping a full state of readiness."

Since the beginning of this year, North Korea has fired various missiles, including ballistic and cruise missiles, 38 times based on the days missiles were launched.
