[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Jeon Ji-a's work "Into the Cave" is being held until the 13th at Space M in Hyehwa-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. This exhibition is the artist Jeon's first solo exhibition, known for expressing the inner world through fabric sculptures and installations.
For artist Jeon, fabric is like moments of life. It touches our bodies during difficult moments as well as happy ones. The fabric, which she directly touches and empathizes with, becomes her language itself, and complex emotions and life experiences are completed as a single sculpture.
The place called "cave" represents a mysterious unconscious world for Jeon Ji-a. This world is the source of all her work and a place where unknown beautiful things are hidden everywhere. The sculptures exhibited from the basement floor to the first floor and even outside the building symbolize the process of the artist's thoughts gradually ripening as they are brought out from deep inside to the outside.
Born in 1997, Jeon Ji-a has presented her works while earning dual degrees from the Department of Plastic Arts at Seoul National University of Science and Technology and the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York, USA.
