[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cha Jong-sun] On the 9th, Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that kindergarten students from Gokseong visited the Gokseong-eup Administrative Welfare Center to participate in collecting recyclables.
Twenty-two Gokseong kindergarten students washed and dried milk cartons themselves and carefully collected used batteries to participate in the recycling collection.
They collected 1,250 milk cartons and 200 used batteries and submitted them to the Gokseong-eup Administrative Welfare Center.
The Administrative Welfare Center exchanged the recyclables for 50 rolls of toilet paper and 20 new batteries, encouraging the children who participated in the recycling collection.
This was the second time that Gokseong kindergarten students visited the Gokseong-eup Administrative Welfare Center to collect recyclables, following their visit earlier this year.
The recycling exchange program implemented by Gokseong-gun is serving as a good opportunity for children to learn proper separation and disposal of recyclables and to practice resource circulation.
One child who visited the Gokseong-eup Administrative Welfare Center said, “I thought it was trash, but since I was told it could be reused, I washed the milk cartons very thoroughly. I will give the batteries to my mom.”
A Gokseong-gun official said, “All our town and township offices conduct recycling reward exchanges throughout the year, so we hope many people will participate in collecting recyclables.”
Gokseong-gun exchanges 50 pieces of 200ml milk cartons, 25 pieces of 500ml milk cartons, and 15 pieces of 1000ml milk cartons for one roll of toilet paper each. Ten used batteries can be exchanged for one new battery. Milk cartons should be emptied, rinsed with water, dried, compressed, and then submitted.
