[Asia Economy Reporters Naju-seok and Park Jun-i] The Democratic Party of Korea discussed the amendment bills for the Board of Audit and Inspection Act and the Basic Pension Act on the 9th.

On this day, the Democratic Party reported the Stalking Victim Protection and Support Act and the Basic Pension Act as livelihood legislation, and the Board of Audit and Inspection Act and the Act on Exclusion of Statute of Limitations for State Violence as reform legislation through a policy meeting at the National Assembly. These bills will be further discussed in a party meeting before tomorrow's plenary session.

The Stalking Prevention Act includes provisions to strengthen the responsibilities of the state and local governments to protect and support victims, aiming to prevent harm in advance. It reflects the growing need for legal reinforcement following the confirmation of the severity of stalking crimes such as the Sindang Station stalking murder case. The Act on Punishment of Stalking Crimes abolishes provisions on offenses requiring victim's withdrawal of complaint, operates a stalking victim resource center, and supports the deletion of victim information.

The Basic Pension Act includes provisions to abolish unreasonable regulations such as a 20% reduction in pension amount when receiving the basic pension. Park Hong-geun, the floor leader of the Democratic Party, explained, "The Democratic Party will do its best so that all elderly people can receive the same basic pension."

The Board of Audit and Inspection Act contains provisions to enhance the political neutrality and fairness of the Board of Audit and Inspection. The bill promoted by the Democratic Party includes making public the resolutions of the Audit Committee, the highest decision-making body of the Board, strengthening internal control through the Audit Committee to improve political neutrality and fairness of audits, appointing the Inspector through external public recruitment and placing the position directly under the head of the Board, and reporting the results of internal accounting audits and duty inspections to the President and the relevant standing committees of the National Assembly.

Legislation to abolish the statute of limitations on state violence crimes to hold permanent accountability was also discussed on this day.

Lee Su-jin, the Democratic Party floor spokesperson, explained, "Due to the tight schedule caused by the state audit related to the Itaewon tragedy, the party decided to hold a party meeting tomorrow to continue discussions on adopting the party stance."
