Keeping the "Promise to Residents"... Park Wansu, Governor of Gyeongnam, Checks Progress on Pledges and Current Issues Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, is reviewing the progress of key tasks in the 8th term of the provincial administration.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] On the 9th, Park Wansu, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, reviewed the implementation status of major pledges and key provincial administration tasks of the 8th elected term.


The key provincial administration task review meeting chaired by Governor Park was attended by Executive Vice Governor Choi Manrim, Economic Vice Governor Kim Byungkyu, and heads of departments and bureaus in charge of key tasks.


At the meeting, ▲ presentation of the management plan for key provincial administration tasks including major pledges and directives ▲ reports on the progress of tasks by each department and bureau ▲ related discussions were conducted.


The attendees selected 30 priority tasks to realize the provincial vision according to the 8th elected term pledge implementation plan finalized on the 2nd, discussing issues and management measures.


They also reviewed the overall implementation status of directives delivered through various channels such as executive meetings since the launch of the 8th elected term.


Governor Park emphasized, “Pledges and directives are promises to the residents and directly related to their lives,” adding, “Prompt implementation and responsible execution are necessary.”


He also urged, “To carry out key tasks and respond to various evaluations, please accurately recognize goals and priorities and actively manage them so that synergy effects beneficial to residents can emerge.”


Regarding the promotion of revitalizing Sacheon Airport, one of the major pledge tasks, he advised, “While airline routes are important, various conditions for the activation of Sacheon Airport should be reviewed.”


He also instructed to hold meetings with airlines and related parties to gather opinions on what is actually needed.


Concerning the expansion of medical personnel such as establishing a medical school in the province, he ordered, “Consider expanding medical school quotas and establishing new medical schools, but actively present the argument that a medical school is primarily needed in Gyeongnam and make proposals.”


Governor Park also spoke about the emergency medical control tower.


He said, “For the emergency medical control tower to operate smoothly in practice, it should be pilot-operated,” and reiterated, “Efforts should be made to establish a disaster control tower where the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, fire department, and autonomous police participate to ensure proper cooperation and situation control.”


Governor Park has consistently said, “For the provincial administration to change dynamically, all staff must work with a sense of mission.”


He repeatedly ordered prompt implementation of directives, frequent communication and swift response to difficulties, and management.


Accordingly, Gyeongnam Province plans to regularly review key issues such as the governor’s pledges and directives and intensively manage the implementation status to actively respond to issues arising at any time.
