JinCore CEO Yong-Sam Kim (former Director of the Gene Editing Research Center at the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology) received the Minister of Science and ICT Award today (November 9) at the ‘1st Vice Minister Meeting with Outstanding Researchers from Government-funded Research Institutes’ hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT, in recognition of his excellent research achievements with the ‘ultra-small gene scissors CRISPR-Cas12f technology.’
This awarded technology is the ultra-small gene scissors Cas12f technology, which is significantly smaller than existing gene editing technologies and combines both efficacy and safety, making it an ideal technology for gene therapy. The technology has been fully transferred to JinCore, where further technological development and commercialization are underway.
JinCore, a research institute startup founded by CEO Dr. Yong-Sam Kim, has recently published papers in the world-renowned journals Nature Biotechnology (IF 68.164) and Nature Chemical Biology (IF 16.174), gaining global recognition for its technological capabilities. The company is developing gene therapies and valuable hemp seeds using proprietary technology.
In July, JinCore expanded its research center to ‘Omnibus Park,’ a medical convergence space at the Catholic Central Medical Center in Banpo-dong, Seoul, and recently succeeded in raising 17.1 billion KRW in a Series A funding round.
