Establishing a Sound Distribution Order, Eradicating Illegal Distribution
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced on the 9th that it will conduct a comprehensive crackdown until the 25th to prevent the illegal distribution of Suncheon Love Gift Certificates.
The city expects that as the circulation of Suncheon Love Gift Certificates increases, cases of illegal distribution, including "illegal exchange," may also rise. Therefore, it will carry out crackdowns to establish a sound distribution order for the gift certificates.
▲ Illegal receipt and illegal exchange (so-called 'Kkang') ▲ Gift certificate affiliated stores operating in restricted business sectors ▲ Affiliated stores refusing payment or treating customers unfavorably compared to other payment methods (especially refusal to issue cash receipts) will be intensively inspected.
The city plans to collect information in real-time through the integrated gift certificate management system and conduct surprise on-site inspections of suspicious affiliated stores (such as exchanging consecutive serial numbers or immediate exchange after purchase). If violations are detected, measures such as cancellation of store registration, fines up to 20 million KRW, confiscation of illegally used gift certificates, and referral for investigation will be taken.
Along with the crackdown, the city operates a year-round illegal distribution reporting center to receive reports from residents to eradicate illegal distribution of gift certificates.
A Suncheon City official stated, "The issuance of Suncheon Love Gift Certificates aims to revitalize the local economy through consumption promotion, but it can only establish itself as a true local love gift certificate if citizens use it responsibly." He emphasized, "We ask citizens to take the lead in eradicating illegal distribution of gift certificates."
