[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 9th that it has selected seven outstanding policies that brightened this year's district administration, including the 19th Nostalgic Gwangju Chungjang World Festival.
Dong-gu has been enhancing efficiency by setting core goals for each department and promoting tasks according to these goals to establish an organizational culture that implements reasonable rewards based on district administrative performance.
This year's 'Top 7 District Policies' were selected through an internal review of 34 projects recommended by each department, narrowing down to 15 projects in the first round. Subsequently, the final ranking was determined through evaluation by a resident evaluation group consisting of 114 members, including Dong-gu Council members and residents.
The final selected projects are ▲ the 19th Nostalgic Gwangju Chungjang World Festival ▲ the district's first alleyway regeneration project! A specialized alley-level regeneration project unique to Dong-gu ▲ Chungjang Commercial District Renaissance ▲ the residents' humanities activity hub ‘Dong-gu Humanities Academy’ ▲ the 5·18 Democracy Square ‘Fountain of Light’ ▲ the opening of ‘Traveler’s House,’ a travel convenience space representing Gwangju targeting the MZ generation ▲ and ‘Dong to the Gu to the Rami,’ a project that reduced waste and increased recycling, totaling seven projects.
Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, said, “The ‘Top 7 District Policies’ directly selected by residents are expected to serve as an opportunity to strengthen communication with residents and enhance creative administration,” adding, “We will continue to discover and promote various specialized projects unique to Dong-gu for the welfare improvement of residents.”
