[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is conducting a comprehensive maintenance of hiking trails around Jesoksan Mountain to provide a safe hiking environment for hikers enjoying urban mountain climbing.
According to Nam-gu on the 9th, the Jesoksan hiking trail maintenance work will be carried out over three months from this month until the end of January next year.
The construction section covers approximately 4.68 km from the entrance of Yongsan Tunnel in Bongseon-dong to Gyeongnam Apartments in Juwol-dong.
Nam-gu plans to invest 134 million KRW in the project to maintain 133 wooden staircases, 16 wooden retaining walls, and a 46-meter section of the trail with paving soil.
In addition, exposed tree roots around the trail will be removed, and 12 benches will be installed throughout the trail to enhance convenience facilities.
Furthermore, to prevent safety accidents, a 200-meter section will be equipped with coir mats, and surface leveling work will be carried out on uneven sections.
A Nam-gu official stated, “We will do our best in the maintenance work to ensure that residents in the area can enjoy a comfortable rest time in the urban forest by repairing convenience facilities and managing tree roots around Jesoksan Mountain.”
