Ministry of Culture Conducts Special Safety Inspections at 52 Cultural Facilities Over One Month

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will inspect the safety conditions of multi-use cultural facilities under its jurisdiction from the 9th of this month until the 8th of next month. This is part of the government's 'Joint Emergency Safety Inspection by Related Agencies' for multi-use facilities, established as a follow-up measure to the Itaewon incident. A total of seventy multi-use cultural facilities frequently visited by the public at the end of the year, such as performance halls, stadiums, and movie theaters, will be inspected.

The Ministry explained, "Officials in charge will visit the target facilities to identify areas where crowding may occur, check for obstacles in the movement paths of visitors, and verify compliance with related regulations such as the deployment of safety personnel during visitor entry and exit." They added, "In cultural facilities like museums, additional inspections will be conducted to check the installation of safety railings to prevent children's safety accidents and measures to prevent floor slipping."
