[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyuk-jun] Jeollanam-do Hwasun-gun (Governor Gu Bok-gyu) announced on the 9th that it conducted a water-saving campaign at the Hwasun Dolmen Traditional Market on the 8th.
Currently, the water supply rate in Hwasun-gun is 92.6% for local and metropolitan waterworks, 6.6% for small-scale water facilities, and 0.8% for private wells. The metropolitan waterworks face low reservoir levels of raw water dams (Juwam Dam 32.3%, Dongbok Dam 32.5%), with Juwam Dam entering a 'critical stage' for water supply.
Dongbok Dam is expected to be depleted by March next year, and if the drought continues, there are concerns about residents' inconvenience due to restricted water supply.
The county suggested water-saving practices to residents such as adjusting water pressure valves, using a cup when brushing teeth, turning off water while soaping during washing or shaving, placing bottles or bricks filled with water in toilet tanks and installing water-saving toilets, collecting water for dishwashing, and washing laundry all at once.
They are also promoting various water-saving measures including distributing promotional materials about water conservation, conducting village broadcasts, installing water-saving banners, and encouraging water-saving practices in daily life through village chief meetings.
A county official said, "It is important to practice saving water for daily use to overcome the drought," and added, "We will do our best to manage water to prevent the spread of damage caused by the drought."
