[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Samsung Seoul Hospital announced on the 9th that, in celebration of its 28th anniversary, it will provide a 'Chemotherapy Support Kit' to patients undergoing their first outpatient chemotherapy as part of its commitment to 'patient-centered care.'
The chemotherapy support kit, engraved with the slogan "Your Day, We Are Together," includes a pouch containing hand sanitizer, a thermometer, a soft toothbrush, toothpaste, and candy, along with a blanket, all packed in an eco bag. Starting today, the kit will be distributed to patients receiving their first outpatient chemotherapy at the Cancer Hospital and is expected to be provided to about 5,000 patients annually.
The kit was created with 200 million KRW in voluntary donations from Samsung Seoul Hospital employees and a character and design talent donation from a patient's family. After providing the initial batch of kits to 105 outpatient chemotherapy patients and gathering their feedback, some items were readjusted before final production.
Lee Woo-yong, Director of the Cancer Hospital (Professor of Colorectal Surgery), said, "The reason Samsung Cancer Hospital has been able to become 'Asia's No. 1' is primarily due to excellent treatment outcomes, and what sets us apart from other hospitals is the establishment of a 'supportive treatment system' including the Cancer Education Center and Cancer Healing Center." He added, "As a leading cancer treatment hospital, we wanted to provide patients with emotional stability and will continue to develop new programs that support patients in recovering to a healthy and happy life."
