[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Small and Medium Business Corporation (Chairman Kim Hak-do, hereinafter referred to as SBC) announced on the 8th (local time) that it held a Korea-Mexico technology exchange consultation meeting in Mexico.

Marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Korea this year, Mexico serves as a bridge connecting the North American and Latin American markets. In particular, as Korea is negotiating to join the Pacific Alliance (PA) as an associate member, the scope of economic cooperation between the two countries is expected to expand further.

SBC and the Mexican Chamber of Commerce (CANACINTRA) agreed to actively cooperate in ▲ exchanging support policies for small and medium ventures ▲ supporting joint investments by SMEs of both countries ▲ jointly promoting overseas technology exchange projects.

Following the signing of the agreement, the two organizations jointly held the Korea-Mexico technology exchange consultation meeting. Six domestic companies with excellent technologies in the automobile, food, and medical device sectors were matched one-on-one with 30 local buyers seeking technology transfer for in-depth consultations.

Additionally, SBC signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for cooperation to support carbon neutrality practices by SMEs with the government of Nuevo Le?n, located in northern Mexico near the U.S. border, and the international organization Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI). Nuevo Le?n is home to many SMEs related to automobile, steel, and electronic product manufacturing, including partners of Kia Motors and LG Electronics. SBC plans to actively participate in the international community’s efforts to respond to the climate crisis by transferring various policy support models, such as carbon neutrality level diagnosis, to the local area.

Chairman Kim Hak-do said, "Korea is Mexico’s third-largest trading partner, and with the recent acceleration of global supply chain restructuring, we have become important partners to each other," adding, "Building on the cooperative relationships established with local professional institutions and state governments in Mexico, we will strive to create new business opportunities between SMEs of both countries and achieve tangible support results."
