First International Conference on Promoting Organ Donation in Busan... 1st Korea-China-Japan Asia Organ Donation International Symposium

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The first international conference addressing the activation project for organ donation between countries will be held in Busan.


Busan City announced on the 9th at 2 p.m. that it will host the "1st Korea-China-Japan Asia Organ Donation International Symposium" at the 12th-floor international conference hall of City Hall.


This symposium is co-hosted by Busan City and the Korea Organ Donation Association (President Kang Chi-young) to raise social awareness about organ and human tissue donation and to explore ways to establish an efficient organ donation cooperation system among Korea, China, and Japan.


About 100 people, including Park Hyung-joon, Mayor of Busan, Ha Yun-su, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, Baek Jong-heon, Member of the National Assembly, as well as officials from related organ donation organizations and citizens, will attend. Under the theme "The Direction and Future of Organ Donation in Asia," presentations and discussions by experts from various fields will be held.


First, the keynote speech will be delivered by Yoon Jin-han, former director of Dong-A University Hospital, who performed Busan's first brain-dead organ donor surgery. Following this, Kang Chi-young, President of the Korea Organ Donation Association, will present the "Survey Results on the Need for a Coalition Organization for Organ Donation and Transplantation in Asia."


Next, an expert panel discussion on the "Current Status of Organ Donation and Transplantation in Korea, Japan, and China" will take place. Panelists include Kwon Heon-young, former professor at Dong-A University College of Medicine; Takashi Kenmochi, professor at Fujita Medical University in Japan; and Lu Lin Ma, director of the Urology Center at the Third Hospital Affiliated to Peking University in China, who will discuss organ donation and international cooperation measures.


Park Hyung-joon, Mayor of Busan, said, "Through this symposium, we expect active research presentations related to organ donation from Korea, China, and Japan, as well as discussions on establishing cooperative systems and improving policies to promote organ donation." He added, "We will do our best to create a world where people can live again and a healthy Busan through the activation of organ donation."
