[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Hwang Kyo-ahn, former leader of the United Future Party who declared his candidacy for the ruling party leadership, made a remark targeting Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, saying "Next is 'that person’s' turn" following the news of the prosecution’s indictment and detention of Kim Yong, deputy director of the Democratic Research Institute.

On the 9th, Hwang posted on his social network service (SNS), "Following the detention of Yoo Dong-gyu and Kim Yong, the investigation of Jeong Jin-sang (Democratic Party’s party leader political coordination office chief) will soon conclude. Jeong Jin-sang’s detention is a foregone conclusion."

He said, "The important thing is not Kim Yong’s detention but the contents of the indictment," adding, "The Daejang-dong project, which yielded astronomical profits, is known to have 49% of the private investor shares owned by Kim Man-bae, and according to the indictment, Kim Man-bae admitted that half of those shares belong to three close aides of Representative Lee Jae-myung."

He continued, "The acknowledgment of the shareholding relationship by Kim Man-bae and the confession statements of Yoo Dong-gyu are still only part of the process of uncovering the truth. Next is ‘that person’s’ turn," and said, "We should watch what the last desperate act of Lee Jae-myung, who is cornered, will be."

Meanwhile, the prosecution conducted a search and seizure at the residence of Jeong Jin-sang, political coordination office chief, on the morning of the same day, following the indictment and detention of Deputy Director Kim on the evening of the 8th.
