Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, Meets Residents at Junggok Jeil Market on the 8th to Hear Lively On-site Voices... Visits Livelihood Sites Monthly for Candid Dialogues with Residents from All Walks of Life
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) communicated with residents by sharing sincere everyday stories through 'Alley Listening,' a program that listens to vivid voices from the field, held on the 8th at Junggok Jeil Market.
Gwangjin, under the 8th term of the elected government, which has been tirelessly pursuing communication, has set 'Alley Communication' as a core project to stay close to residents and directly visit the field.
Mayor Kim Kyung-ho, who believes communication is learning, sought 'Alley Listening' to gather residents' wisdom by listening to various voices throughout the alleys.
The first listening session opened at Junggok Jeil Market, a place bustling with many people.
First, he took a walk around the market, warmly greeting merchants and carefully checking if there were any difficulties in running their stores.
At the market entrance, a small but heartfelt communication booth named 'Alley Listening with Residents' was set up, where warm greetings were extended to residents while listening to their stories.
"Are you comfortable these days? Please tell us anything that is inconvenient!"
In response to Mayor Kim's greeting, residents voiced various concerns ranging from daily inconveniences and safety issues to long-standing wishes for regional development.
"I am distressed by indiscriminate illegal dumping of garbage."
"Please install traffic lights for the safety of children."
"Fights often break out because of parking issues."
Listening attentively to the voices on site, Mayor Kim promised to thoroughly review and resolve residents' inconveniences in the future.
The residents, who communicated candidly, expressed their joy by saying, "Thank you for understanding our position," "We feel reassured thanks to the mayor," and "We want to meet more often."
Alley Communication consists of five themes: ▲Cleaning ▲Care ▲Elderly ▲Listening ▲Volunteering, steadily covering neighborhoods to create diverse communication opportunities for residents.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, "Communication is still the most important," adding, "Starting from the alleys, we will visit various livelihood sites and communicate more closely with residents by making eye contact."
