Rep. Kim Eui-gyeom Refutes Allegations of 'Cheongdam-dong Drinking Party'
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Kim Dae-gi, Chief Presidential Secretary, on the 8th, refuted the allegations repeatedly raised by the opposition regarding late-night drinking parties in Cheongdam-dong involving President Yoon Seok-yeol and Minister of Justice Han Dong-hoon, stating, "I understand President Yoon was in his office. It's fake news."
During the National Assembly's Steering Committee's audit of the Presidential Office that night, when Democratic Party lawmaker Kang Deuk-gu mentioned the allegations, Chief Secretary Kim said, "It's a completely baseless story." He added, "Minister of Justice Han Dong-hoon has spoken several times in the National Assembly, and they couldn't even confirm which bar or its location, right?"
In response to Kang's question about whether the schedule for that day would be disclosed, Kim said, "He did not go there," and "I believe he was probably in his office. It is not appropriate for us to disclose the schedule for fake news."
The 'Cheongdam-dong drinking party' allegation was raised by Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Ui-gyeom during the comprehensive audit of the National Assembly's Judiciary Committee on the 24th of last month. It concerns a late-night drinking party held at a high-end bar in Cheongdam-dong on July 19-20, attended by President Yoon, Minister Han, and 30 lawyers from the law firm Kim & Chang.
