Youth Advisor No.1 Lee Seokho Starts First Day at Ministry of SMEs and Startups on 9th
Direct Communication with Minister ... Conveying Youth Generation's Perceptions and Opinions
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Lee Young) announced that Mr. Lee Seok-ho (age 25), who was hired as a 'Youth Advisor (Special Grade Level 6)' at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, began his first day of work on the 9th.
The Youth Advisor at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups will directly convey the perceptions and demands of the younger generation to the minister during the policy formulation and implementation processes within the ministry, and will serve as a communication bridge between the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and young people.
Specifically, working as a special grade public official equivalent to level 6, he will assist the minister by collecting the perceptions and opinions of the younger generation on major policies. Additionally, as the head of the '2030 Advisory Group' launching in mid-November, he will carry out activities such as monitoring and providing suggestions on key policies of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups together with 20 non-standing members.
The Youth Advisor system is a new government national agenda aimed at creating a channel to reflect the perceptions of the younger generation across the entire state administration and enabling youth to directly participate in the policy process. Accordingly, the government will first pilot the Youth Advisor system in nine ministries with dedicated youth policy departments and plans to expand it to other central administrative agencies in the future.
Along with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Employment and Labor, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and Financial Services Commission?seven central administrative agencies?began the open recruitment process for Youth Advisors on September 14. As the Ministry of SMEs and Startups completed the recruitment process first, Mr. Lee Seok-ho became the first Youth Advisor.
Mr. Lee Seok-ho, appointed this time as Youth Advisor, will serve until Minister Lee Young’s term expires. He said, "Recalling my experience of starting a business with pet-related products with the help of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ technology innovation startup support project, I will do my best to ensure that the voices of youth are reflected in policies such as youth entrepreneurship policies at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups."
Minister Lee said, "The future of youth is the future of the national economy," and added, "In addition to the youth communication channels we have established so far, such as the youth division of the policy advisory group, honorary public officials group, and citizen supporters, we will actively expand communication time by adding the new Youth Advisor and 2030 Advisory Group to ensure that the voices of youth in the field are more closely reflected in policies."
