Foreign Ministry Official: "Discussion on Expanded Form Including Public Hearings"
"Method and Timing Not Yet Decided"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that regarding the resolution of the forced labor compensation issue between Korea and Japan, "We are continuously reviewing various forms of opinion-gathering procedures, not just public hearings."
An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said to reporters on the 8th, "We are working to announce it when the appropriate time comes," and made this remark.
He added, "There is no set schedule yet for large-scale methods such as public hearings that gather opinions in an expanded form."
The government has expressed its intention to hold public hearings or open debates to gather opinions from various sectors after the public-private consultative meeting with domestic experts ended in early September.
However, about two months have passed since the end of the public-private consultative meeting, but no concrete plans to hold such meetings have been disclosed yet.
