Cheongsong-gun Hosts Various Sports Events Linked to the 'Apple Festival'

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gui-yeol] Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province plans to drive local economic revitalization by holding various sports competitions along with the 16th Cheongsong Apple Festival.

The county will hold the 16th Cheongsong Apple Festival from November 9 to November 13 for five days under the theme "Golden Jin Cheongsong Apples Light Up the World," and alongside this, will host sports events including the 2022 Cheongsong Golden Apple Cup National High School Ssireum Championship.

On the 10th, matches of this year’s Cheongsong Golden Apple Cup National High School Ssireum Championship will take place at a special ssireum arena within the festival grounds, showcasing the essence of ssireum with powerful matches by national high school champions along with various prize draws.

Additionally, an autumn mountain sports competition will be held.

Nakdongjeongmaek Climbing Competition.

The 17th Cheongsong Nakdongjeongmaek Climbing Competition will start around 9:30 AM on the 13th from the Yongjeoncheon competition site under Wolmakgyo Bridge in Cheongsong-eup, following a course that passes through Nodongsan Peak, the ancestral tomb of the Cheongsong Sim clan, and Bogwangsa Temple, before returning to the Yongjeoncheon competition site. Many mountain club members from regional mountain federations nationwide will participate to fully enjoy the late autumn mountain scenery and fun.

Yoon Kyung-hee, the mayor of Cheongsong-gun, said, “By linking various sports competitions with the 16th Cheongsong Apple Festival, we expect to promote Cheongsong apples nationwide and greatly contribute to revitalizing the local economy.”
