[Asia Economy Reporter Myung-hwan Lee] The global fandom platform 'Fantoo' announced on the 8th that it has surpassed 8 million cumulative subscribers in just about two years since its launch.
Fantoo, which was first introduced in May last year, stated that it has built an open community where content can be created and shared to strengthen communication features. It also added that it was able to drive growth by providing voting promotions and other features based on an understanding of fandom culture.
Fantoo also revealed plans to create a new ecosystem where fan activities can lead to revenue generation. A Fantoo representative said, "The major renewal currently underway focuses on supporting limitless fandom activities," adding, "We plan to discover fan creators and secure innovative IPs to expand our business areas."
The Fantoo representative also said, "We are pursuing business partnerships with major domestic and international platform companies to promote the spread of Hallyu," and added, "Along with strategic domestic and overseas expansion through these partnerships, we will accelerate exports of webtoons, web novels, and more."
The new Fantoo 2.0 service with added features is scheduled to be launched early next year.
