The 2022 ROBOTWORLD, the largest robot exhibition in Korea, was held successfully at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 1-3 in Goyang City from October 26 to 29, attracting 30,338 visitors over four days.
Hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and co-organized by the Korea Robot Industry Association, Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement, and the Society of Control, Robotics and Systems, the exhibition featured 227 companies from 12 countries including the United States, Japan, China, the United Kingdom, and Germany, showcasing manufacturing robots, factory automation, service robots, medical and rehabilitation robots, defense robots, unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), robot components, and software across 702 booths.
In particular, this year’s exhibition hall was bustling daily with active face-to-face networking and export consultations between participating companies and overseas buyers. With the easing of COVID-19 restrictions on international arrivals, 1,500 overseas visitors and 15,000 buyers attended the exhibition, achieving remarkable results in business sectors including export consultation meetings.
According to the Korea Robot Industry Association, during ROBOTWORLD, a total of 356 consultations were conducted through the third round of face-to-face overseas export consultation meetings between foreign buyers and domestic companies. These consultations resulted in a total consultation amount of $88.06 million, a contract promotion amount of $19.2 million, and on-site contracts worth $13,250, marking a significant achievement.
Prior to this consultation meeting, the Korea Robot Industry Association facilitated overseas export consultations through the first and second rounds (video consultations), matching domestic companies with genuine buyers. This led to consultation amounts of $30.81 million and contracts worth $4.25 million, effectively serving as a stepping stone for overseas expansion.
Additionally, a purchasing consultation meeting held for domestic companies saw participation from six demand companies including Hyundai Wia, Woojin Plaimm, and Yujin Robot, who met with 34 supply companies, resulting in a total performance of $2.65 million.
At the exhibition site, MOUs (Memorandums of Understanding) between domestic and overseas companies were also signed consecutively. Invited overseas buyers from the Philippines, Singapore, and Malaysia, hosted by the Korea Robot Industry Association, visited exhibition booths resulting in a total of seven MOUs.
Alongside the exhibition, the International Robot Contest and R-BIZ Challenge were held simultaneously, providing opportunities for training robot specialists and discovering new services. Various interactive events held throughout the exhibition introduced the interest and potential applications of robots to visitors of all ages, from young children to adults.
The International Robot Business Conference, sponsored by the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization and Goyang Convention Bureau, was also a great success. The event, which invited about 1,000 experts from home and abroad, shared innovative technologies and related trends in the robotics field, delivering diverse insights.
Meanwhile, ROBOTWORLD, leading the robot industry, is held annually. Information about ROBOTWORLD 2023 can be found on the ROBOTWORLD website.
