Kim Bu-yeong, Changnyeong County Governor, and 6 Others Not Detained on Candidate Bribery Charges

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The Gyeongnam police sent six people, including Kim Bu-young, the mayor of Changnyeong County, to the prosecution without detention on the 4th on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act.

According to the Gyeongnam Police Agency, Kim and others are suspected of bribing voters to split votes against rival candidates during the nationwide simultaneous local elections in June.

The provincial police agency conducted search and seizure at 11 locations, including Kim's residence and office, in September, and arrested four associates of Kim on charges of bribing voters under the Public Official Election Act.
