Comprehensive Discussion on the Future Direction of Culture and Arts Education Policy
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service will hold a forum on the afternoon of the 9th at the auditorium of the National Hangeul Museum to establish a comprehensive plan for arts and culture education. The comprehensive plan for arts and culture education is a statutory plan established every five years to support arts and culture education policies based on Article 6 of the "Act on Support for Arts and Culture Education." This year marks the end of the first comprehensive plan, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is preparing to establish the second plan.
At the forum, the overall direction of arts and culture education policies will be discussed comprehensively based on various existing opinions. Researcher Hyein Kim from the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute will present the policy direction, and discussions will be held on topics such as ▲ ways to enhance public awareness of arts and culture education ▲ methods to realize community-based arts and culture education by strengthening regional autonomy ▲ and multidimensional advancement of arts and culture education policy foundations. Participants include Eun-ah Cho, professor of Cultural Arts Management at Chugye University for the Arts and chairperson of the comprehensive plan establishment committee; Seungjin Kang, head of the Chuncheon Cultural Foundation Cultural City Center; Deokju Kwak, professor of Education at Seoul National University; Young Moon, professor of Performing Arts at Kookmin University; Ji-hye Seo, CEO of InCulture Consulting; and Younghwa Choi, head of the Urban Society Research Department at the Incheon Institute. Academics, institutions, field practitioners related to arts and culture education, and the general public can also provide their opinions.
