[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Goodoc, the nation's No.1 healthcare platform, is strengthening its services to prevent the spread of the 'Twindemic.'
On the 7th, Goodoc announced that it will provide a service that allows users to check hospitals offering flu vaccinations and vaccine price information based on their location anywhere in the country at once. The company plans to establish a system enabling users to prepare for the Twindemic, as the Goodoc app also provides price information for PCR tests and rapid antigen tests.
Recently, concerns about the Twindemic?simultaneous outbreaks of COVID-19 and influenza?have increased due to a rebound in COVID-19 cases and the issuance of a flu epidemic advisory for the first time in three years. With inflation compounding the situation, there are also worries about supply instability for vaccines and cold medicines.
In particular, flu vaccine prices vary widely from hospital to hospital. In September, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency issued a flu epidemic advisory for the first time since the COVID-19 outbreak and recommended vaccination. However, the vaccine is a non-reimbursable item, and hospitals purchase it directly from manufacturers.
Goodoc explained that this service enhancement is expected to enable rapid confirmation of COVID-19 and flu vaccine prices and reduce hospital waiting times. As a result, it anticipates a decrease in administrative tasks at hospitals nationwide and improved convenience for users’ medical care, thereby significantly increasing the efficiency of medical services for preventing the Twindemic on both sides.
Jinseok Lim, CEO of Goodoc, said, “Although both COVID-19 and the flu are infectious diseases where prevention is more important than treatment, consumers are forced to visit many hospitals individually to compare prices due to the wide variation in vaccine prices, risking missing the ‘golden time’ for vaccination. With the launch of this service, we aim to contribute to preventing the spread of the Twindemic by providing fast and accurate information about hospitals and vaccine prices.”
