[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Bundang Seoul National University Hospital announced on the 7th that Professor Song Kyung-ho of the Department of Infectious Diseases received the '2022 Korean Society of Infectious Diseases-Korean Society for Antimicrobial Therapy Autumn Scientific Conference' 'Korean Society of Infectious Diseases-Institut M?rieux Young Scientist Award' and 'Excellent Paper Award.'
Professor Song was honored with the Young Scientist Award in recognition of his outstanding research activities and potential for development in various fields, including basic research and clinical trials on antibiotic-resistant (AMR) bacterial infections, hospital infection control, appropriate antibiotic use management, and emerging infectious diseases.
In addition, Professor Song's research team (Professor Choi Seung-jin of Bundang Seoul National University Hospital, Professor Choi Pyeong-ryeon of Seoul National University Hospital, Professor Lee Eun-young of Boramae Hospital, Manager Lee Eun-joo of Seongnam City Medical Center, and Manager Kim Ji-yeon) received the Excellent Paper Award for their study evaluating a new COVID-19 diagnostic method using self-collected specimens. The research team was recognized for excellence in promptly reflecting real-world demands in response to emerging infectious diseases through close collaborative research with diagnostic testing companies, contributing to the activation of industry-academia cooperative research based on scientific methodologies.
Professor Song said, “I am delighted to receive two awards simultaneously,” adding, “I will continue research activities in various fields to help patients suffering from antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections.”
