[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province is holding a design competition for the construction of a library in Sinbong-dong, Suji-gu.


The Sinbong-dong Library will be built on lot 931 in Sinbong-dong with a total floor area of 3,240㎡, investing 16.8 billion KRW. It will have one basement floor and three above-ground floors, equipped with reading rooms, a children's library, and a multipurpose room.


In particular, it will be a specialized library for adolescents aged 12 to 16, designed as a participatory and experiential space to foster the spontaneity and autonomy of youth.


Eligibility for the competition requires architects nationwide who hold an architect license under Article 7 of the Architect Act as of the announcement date and have registered an architectural office. Participation is also allowed through joint execution methods.


To participate, applicants must visit the Public Architecture Division of the city by the 14th to submit the application form and other documents. The application form can be downloaded from the city's website under the Notices and Announcements section.


Applicants who submit the application must visit the city office by the 29th of next month to submit their design proposals.


The city will announce the final winning design after a review in January next year. After basic and detailed design stages, construction will begin in 2024.
