Asia Economy reporter Oh Joo-yeon] On the 3rd, Lee Won-wook, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, said regarding the 'Itaewon tragedy,' "It inevitably has to go to a national audit."

On the 3rd, Lee appeared on SBS Radio's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show' and said, "The reason why former President Park Geun-hye's state affairs manipulation case inevitably went to a special prosecutor was not because they wanted to at the time, but because the public demand grew so large that it was impossible not to accept it," adding, "This Itaewon tragedy will ultimately go the same way."

Lee said, "At the very least, it will inevitably go to a national audit," and pointed out, "If the government and the ruling party delay or refuse (the national audit), suspicions will only grow, and trust in the president and the government will further decline."

In response to the host's question, "Do you think the People Power Party can suddenly accept this (national audit)?" he replied, "I believe a situation where they have no choice but to accept it will definitely come."

Regarding this tragedy, Lee emphasized that President Yoon Suk-yeol needs to issue a 'public apology' regardless of responsibility.

He said, "The president is the person who bears unlimited responsibility for state administration, but the presidential office is still reluctant to have the president apologize," and judged, "This is one of the core issues making the current political situation difficult to resolve." He added, "As I mentioned earlier, the president's apology is necessary."
