[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Chun-hee] Precision Bio announced on the 2nd that it will hold the "Chronic Disease Digital Therapeutics (DTx) Symposium" on the 3rd at the Sapphire Hall of Sono Felice Convention in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
The theme of this symposium, hosted by Precision Bio, is "The Role of DTx in Chronic Diseases and the Necessity of Diagnostic and DTx Platforms." A total of two sessions will be held over three hours, sponsored by the Korea Bio Association, Digital Healthcare Alliance Forum, and Korea Digital Health Industry Association.
In the first session, Director Kim Kyung-chul of Wellcare Clinic, nephrology specialist Ryu Hyun-jin, and CEO Choi Doo-ah of Huray Positive will present expert views on the necessity and role of DTx in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases in actual medical practice. The second session will feature Executive Director Son Seung-wan of Precision Bio, Professor Lee Kang-won of Seoul National University and CEO of The Doni, and Executive Director Lee Hae-sung of KT, discussing the necessity and direction of building chronic disease monitoring and DTx platforms, as well as the future of digital therapeutics in Korea. Participation is free, and pre-registration is available until the 2nd.
DTx refers to software as a medical device (SaMD) whose therapeutic effects have been proven through clinical trials. It is provided in forms such as mobile applications (apps), virtual reality, and chatbots. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, with the active adoption of telemedicine, DTx has attracted attention as a promising technology. Precision Bio plans to differentiate itself by enhancing therapeutic effects through proving the effectiveness of DTx using its existing on-site diagnostic platform.
A representative of Precision Bio said, "This symposium will be an opportunity to define and widely promote the direction of Precision Bio's DTx business," adding, "Since we currently have diagnostic products for chronic diseases such as liver, kidney, and cardiovascular diseases, our goal is to complete the related DTx development by the first half of next year."
