‘Talent Donation Love Sharing’ promoted by the Returning Farmers Association of Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gui-yeol] The ‘Talent Donation Love Sharing’ initiative promoted by the Yeongyang-gun Return-to-Farming Association in Gyeongbuk is gaining attention as a solution to the shortage of human resources in rural villages.
Talent Donation Love Sharing is a new form of donation activity where individuals or groups share their talents with those in need, helping to improve quality of life and restore community bonds.
Although Talent Donation Love Sharing began as part of a support project to attract return-to-farming and return-to-village residents, it has now become an annual event of the Return-to-Farming Association in which anyone who has returned to farming or rural living can participate. It has evolved into activities reflecting talents, interests, and hobbies, encouraging active participation beyond simple volunteering.
Kim (female, 76), an elderly person living alone, said, “I never imagined I could replace the old sink or wallpaper, but neighbors came and took care of me like family. I am just so grateful. Thank you to everyone.”
In response, a representative of the Yeongyang-gun Return-to-Farming Association said, “We feel very proud and fulfilled to be able to provide a safe and comfortable environment for the village elders. We will continue to seek places in need of help and carry out Talent Donation Love Sharing activities, doing our best to become a Return-to-Farming Association that works together with the community.”
County Governor Oh Do-chang said, “The Talent Donation Love Sharing activities of our county’s return-to-farming and return-to-village residents will breathe new life into rural areas and become a stepping stone for balanced living and coexistence among local residents.”
