Andong-si Completes 'Royal Way Park'... Commemorating Visit of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Andrew of the UK Royal Way Memorial Park.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Koo Dae-sun] Andong City, Gyeongbuk, completed the creation of the 'Royal Way Park' near Seoandong IC on the Jungang Expressway on the 2nd to commemorate the visits of the late Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and Prince Andrew.

Andong City has named and promoted the route from Hahoe Village to the Agricultural Wholesale Market to Bongjeongsa Temple as the 'Royal Way' following the footsteps of the late Queen Elizabeth II, who visited in 1999, and Prince Andrew, who walked the path 20 years later in 2019.

The Royal Way Park was established to commemorate and continue the friendly relationship between the British royal family and Andong City.

The park is planted with 2,833 shrubs including 1,672 rose bushes, the national flower of the UK, and 189 trees such as pine trees. The total area is 8,579㎡, equipped with rest areas and parking lots.

Andong City expects that the memorial park near Seoandong IC, the first gateway for visitors to Andong, will become a resting place for citizens and tourists and a place to reflect on the special connection between the UK and Andong. Roses are planted along the walking paths in the park, creating an even more beautiful scenery when the roses bloom in spring.

Andong City stated, “Through the Royal Way scenic road project, we will develop the route visited by the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Andrew into differentiated content and enhance Andong City's tourism awareness through external promotion.”
