[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Chosun University SW-Centered University Project Group, the first software-centered university in Honam, announced on the 1st that it participated in the ‘2022 Gwangju AI·SW Experience Festival’ and supported experience booths.
The event, hosted by the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education, organized by the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Educational Information, and sponsored by Gwangju Metropolitan City, was held on the 29th of last month at the Gwangju Biennale Exhibition Hall.
Professor Cho Young-joo, in charge of the SW-Centered University Project Group, along with researcher No Chi-sang, teacher Kim Yeon-woong, and teaching assistants Lee Hyun-jun, Kim Seong-wook, Seo Kyung-hyun, Lee Byung-heon, Kim Jun-hyun, Lee Seong-hyun, Ha Tae-jun, and Kim Yong-su from the Department of Computer Engineering at the College of IT Convergence, operated various experience booths for elementary, middle, and high school students, special school students, teachers, parents, and the general public.
They operated two AI·SW experience booths using AI·SW educational coding robots, Alpha1 Robot and Jimu Robot, and showcased a group dance performance by the Alpha1 Robot at the opening ceremony, receiving warm welcome and support from many attendees.
In particular, this event holds great significance as high school students who have studied together for one year in the AI·SW gifted high school course, jointly conducted for three years by the 2022 Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Educational Information and Chosun University SW-Centered University Project Group, including Kim Seong-jin from Bia High School, Kim Jun-beom from International High School, Jo Su-yeon and No Nam-kyung from Munjeong Girls' High School, Park Hye-eun from Kumho Central Girls' High School, Seo Yeon-ji from Salesio Girls' High School, Oh Young-seo from Dong-A Girls' High School, Lee Seong-hoon from Jeonbuk National University of Education High School, and Jung Seo-hee from Kumho Central Girls' High School, attended together and laid the foundation for a warm social virtuous cycle system by passing on the AI·SW knowledge they learned to their juniors.
Professor Cho Young-joo, in charge of the Chosun University SW-Centered University Project Group, said, “As AI·SW education is currently conducted as essential education, this event held at a time when interest and enthusiasm for education are rising greatly helped students explore their future career paths,” and added, “With the support of parents and students, the Chosun University SW-Centered University Project Group will continue to strive to spread the value of AI·SW so that high-quality AI·SW education can be received throughout life regardless of age.”
Park Cheol-shin, director of the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Educational Information, said, “The students who participated in the AI·SW gifted high school course have improved their skills as much as their interest in AI·SW, making the value dissemination of AI·SW through this experience festival very meaningful,” and expressed hope that “the Chosun University SW-Centered University Project Group will continue to run programs together so that all students in the Gwangju area can easily learn AI·SW education.”
