[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 1st that it will strengthen regulations on the use of disposable products starting from the 24th.
Accordingly, related businesses were urged to prepare in advance, such as securing volume-based waste bags.
According to the county, from the 24th, regulations on the use of disposable products will be strengthened, including restrictions (prohibition) on the use of disposable bags and shopping bags in wholesale and retail businesses.
The expanded regulations on disposable product use to be implemented this time prohibit the use of disposable bags that were previously provided for a fee at convenience stores, bakeries, and the like.
In addition, the use of disposable paper cups, disposable plastic straws, and stirring sticks in food service businesses such as restaurants and cafes, as well as in collective catering facilities, will also be prohibited.
The county recommended that, anticipating inconvenience to users due to the strengthened regulations on disposable bags and shopping bags, businesses register as volume-based waste bag sellers by visiting the eup/myeon offices so they can switch to volume-based waste bags.
In particular, since violations may result in fines of up to 3 million won under the "Act on the Promotion of Saving and Recycling of Resources," related businesses were advised to exercise caution.
A county official said, “As the expanded enforcement of disposable product regulations approaches, each business should prepare in advance,” and added, “We ask for active participation in reducing disposable product use to protect the environment.”
