Domestic Majority Ownership of LEED v4 O+M Platinum
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Aegis Asset Management's managed assets are being transformed into eco-friendly buildings. The number of assets certified under the international green building certification system LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) increased by seven this year alone.
Aegis Asset Management announced on the 31st that Twin Tree Tower (6 Yulgok-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul) and Signature Tower (100 Cheonggyecheon-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul) each obtained the highest LEED certification level, Platinum.
LEED, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is an internationally recognized green building certification system. LEED certification levels are ranked from highest to lowest as Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Certification.
The certification received by the two buildings is the latest version, ‘v4.0’, specifically the O+M (Operations and Maintenance) certification for existing buildings' operation and maintenance. It evaluates eco-friendly performance based on actual operational records such as energy, water, waste usage, and recycling status.
In the LEED evaluation, Twin Tree Tower and Signature Tower commonly scored high in ▲ securing wide landscaping areas ▲ reducing heat island effect through 100% underground parking ▲ saving water resources by using water-saving high-efficiency sanitary fixtures ▲ optimizing energy use through diagnostic systems ▲ accessibility to public transportation.
Notably, Aegis Asset Management operates all buildings in Korea that have received LEED v4.0 O+M Platinum certification except for Seoul Square. Previously, Aegis Asset Management obtained LEED v4 O+M Platinum certification for Autoway Tower as the second case in Korea following Seoul Square.
Aegis Asset Management continues to increase eco-friendly buildings through collaboration with institutional investors. This year, seven LEED-certified assets were acquired, including Gold certifications for Namsan Square, VPLEX, Arenas Yangji, and G Tower Gwanghwamun.
