[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Kakao Entertainment has officially launched the operation of the settlement confirmation site "Partner Portal," established to improve the domestic creative ecosystem.
Kakao Entertainment announced on the 31st that the Partner Portal settlement confirmation site has completed about three months of pilot operation and has officially started operating for publishers (CP companies) and authors contracted with CP companies.
On July 1st, Kakao Entertainment built the Partner Portal, a settlement confirmation site where authors can check detailed settlement information for their works, and conducted a pilot operation targeting internal studio authors.
On July 12th, as part of the "Author Rights Improvement Plan," a win-win meeting was held with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Democratic Party's Livelihood Priority Practice Group Big Tech Abuse Countermeasures TF, and creators, where a demonstration of the Partner Portal took place.
To encourage registration on the Partner Portal, a guide video explaining how to use the portal was distributed to CP companies and other content creators. The author guidance video uploaded on Kakao Entertainment's official YouTube account on the 31st introduced the background of the Partner Portal's establishment as well as the procedure for authors to register on the portal.
The existing Partner Portal provided settlements to CP companies, the entities that have signed work supply contracts with Kakao Entertainment. This new Partner Portal expands the scope of settlement confirmation to authors who have contracts with CP companies. Authors can join the Partner Portal through invitations from their contracted CP companies and transparently check settlement details for their works.
The Partner Portal provides basic information related to works such as work type, sales start date, and sales end date, as well as detailed breakdowns. Payment details are provided separately for AOS and iOS users, and settlement rates and tax amounts incurred during settlement between Kakao Entertainment and CP companies can be confirmed. Additionally, settlement details such as event cash paid to users at Kakao Entertainment's own expense and later settled to content creators can be reviewed, and a communication channel for settlement-related discussions is also provided within the Partner Portal.
