The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 30th that it will cancel the 'K-Classic Coloring the Autumn at the Blue House' concerts scheduled to be held on the 2nd floor of the Blue House State Guest House on the 1st and 4th of next month, following the large-scale crush disaster that occurred in Itaewon. A ministry official stated, "We express our deepest condolences and sympathy to the victims and bereaved families of the Itaewon accident," and added, "We wish for the speedy recovery of the injured."
Originally, the stages on the 1st and 4th of next month were to feature Sunwook Kim, the youngest winner of the 2006 Leeds International Piano Competition, and Yekwon Sunwoo, the first Korean to win the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, respectively. As the nation mourns, the performances scheduled for the 7th and 11th of next month, featuring violinist Inmo Yang and pianist Yeol-eum Son, have also become uncertain. A ministry official said, "We will review the related matters and announce further details later."
