‘Goesan Earthquake’ Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters: "12 Cases of Damage Including House Cracks... [Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] At around 8:27 a.m. on the 29th, a magnitude 4.1 earthquake occurred 11 km northeast of Goesan-gun, Chungbuk, causing twelve cases of property damage, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) announced. No casualties were reported.


According to the CDSCH, as of 6 p.m. that day, damage was recorded to eleven houses and one stone retaining wall. Seven cases were in Goesan, Chungbuk, and five cases were in nearby Chungju. The housing damage included roof damage, wall cracks, and broken glass.


According to the Fire Agency's tally, 93 reports of feeling the earthquake were received nationwide that day, along with 75 additional simple inquiries.


There was also a report of falling rocks in Goesan, but no damage was confirmed from this.


The Ministry of the Interior and Safety issued an earthquake crisis alert at the "Warning" level immediately after the earthquake and activated CDSCH Emergency Level 1.


The CDSCH held an emergency situation inspection meeting via video conference chaired by Director Lee Sang-min (Minister of the Interior and Safety), with related agencies including the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Ministry of Environment, Korea Meteorological Administration, Fire Agency, and local governments.


Director Lee instructed related ministries and local governments to quickly assess the damage situation including casualties, displaced persons, and facility damage, and to mobilize all available personnel and equipment to ensure prompt recovery and restoration in case of damage.
