Saturday Tally Highest in 6 Weeks... 270 Critical Cases and 31 Deaths

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] As the COVID-19 outbreak shows signs of resurgence, 37,321 new confirmed cases were added on the 29th.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight on that day, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increased by 37,321, bringing the total to 25,504,288.
The number of new confirmed cases on that day was 1,397 more than the previous day (35,924 cases).
Looking only at Saturday counts, this is the highest level in six weeks since the 43,430 cases on the 17th of last month.
Compared to one week ago on the 22nd (26,893 cases), it increased by 10,428 cases, and compared to two weeks ago on the 15th (22,829 cases), it increased by 14,492 cases.
Cho Kyu-hong, the 1st Deputy Head of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (Minister of Health and Welfare), diagnosed at the Central Disaster Management Headquarters meeting the previous day that "the COVID-19 outbreak is showing signs of rebound after a stagnation period."
Among the new confirmed cases on that day, 56 were imported cases, 4 fewer than the previous day (60 cases). Domestic community transmission cases were 37,265.

The number of critically ill patients currently hospitalized was 270, 18 more than the previous day (252).
The number of deaths due to COVID-19 on the previous day was 31, the same as the day before.
By age group, 19 deaths (61.3%) were aged 80 or older, 4 in their 70s, 6 in their 60s, and 2 in their 50s.
The cumulative number of deaths is 29,131, and the cumulative fatality rate is 0.11%.
