Ministry of Foreign Affairs: "Concerns over Women's Human Rights in Iran, Join International Community Response"

Concerns Over Harsh Crackdown on Iranian Women's Rights Protests
Government's First Statement on Iran Situation

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] A Ministry of Foreign Affairs official stated on the 28th, "The government is concerned about the prolonged harsh crackdown on women's human rights and protests in Iran, and is participating in the international community's response."

This is effectively the first time the government has expressed its position on this matter.

The official condemned the terrorist attack that occurred on the 26th (local time) in the Shiraz region of Iran, emphasizing, "We reaffirm our firm stance that terrorism cannot be justified under any circumstances."

In Iran, anti-government protests have continued since the suspicious death of a woman named Mahsa Amini, who was arrested by the police for not properly wearing a hijab on the 16th of last month.

As bloodshed continues during the protest suppression, Western pressure on the Iranian government is gradually intensifying.
