[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Genesis's first electric vehicle dedicated model, the GV60, has once again proven its top safety performance.
Genesis announced on the 28th that the GV60 received the highest rating, 'Top Safety Pick+ (TSP+),' in the crash evaluation announced by the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) on the 27th (local time).
IIHS is a non-profit organization established in 1959. Every year, it comprehensively evaluates and announces the crash safety performance and crash prevention performance of vehicles released in the U.S. market.
In particular, since 2012, it has introduced the small overlap test, which evaluates safety by crashing only a part of the front of the vehicle, and is considered the world's most rigorous new car safety evaluation.
Vehicles demonstrating the highest safety receive the TSP+ rating, while those with good performance receive the TSP rating. To earn the TSP+ rating, a vehicle must receive the highest grade of 'good' in all six crash safety categories: driver-side small overlap, passenger-side small overlap, front crash, side crash, roof strength, and head restraint.
Additionally, the vehicle must achieve at least an 'advanced' rating in the front crash prevention system test and at least an 'acceptable' rating in the headlight evaluation across all trims.
The GV60 proved its top safety by receiving the highest 'good' rating in all six crash safety categories and headlight evaluations across all trims. In the front crash prevention system evaluation, it was rated 'superior' for effectively detecting and preventing collisions with other vehicles at speeds under 40 km/h as well as pedestrians.
The GV60 is equipped with various advanced driving safety assistance features, including Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), High Beam Assist (HBA), Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA), and Highway Driving Assist (HDA).
With the GV60's acquisition of the TSP+ rating, Genesis has the honor of having all its models evaluated by IIHS?including the G70, G80, G90, GV70, and GV80?achieve the TSP+ rating.
A Genesis official stated, "Genesis prioritizes customer safety above all in developing all models," and added, "We are pleased that Genesis models, including the GV60, have been recognized for their high safety through IIHS."
