[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Choi] Samsung SDS announced on the 27th through its earnings disclosure that its third-quarter sales amounted to 4.1981 trillion KRW, with an operating profit of 185 billion KRW. Compared to the same period last year, sales increased by 24.2%, while operating profit decreased by 16.7%.
In the IT services sector, the cloud business, which the company is focusing its capabilities on, recorded sales of 1.4871 trillion KRW, up 7.8%. The company secured orders for cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) businesses including ▲ application of its proprietary cloud service Samsung Cloud Platform (SCP) to the financial sector and expansion of High-Performance Computing (HPC) services ▲ expansion of Managed Service Provider (MSP) business to new industries and app modernization ▲ manufacturing supply chain management (SCM) consulting.
The logistics business achieved sales of 2.711 trillion KRW, a 35.4% increase compared to the same period last year, driven by ▲ expansion of Cello Square’s domestic and international customers ▲ expansion of overseas inland transportation and logistics center operations ▲ promotion of new businesses such as equipment relocation logistics and pharmaceutical and bio logistics.
Samsung SDS is pursuing a differentiated strategy in the IT field by combining its own cloud service provider (CSP) SCP with global CSPs’ cloud services to offer technologically superior cloud services in a multi-cloud environment. Alongside this, the company plans to expand its cloud business by actively supporting customers’ digital transformation through investments in cloud solutions such as SaaS.
In the logistics sector, the digital logistics platform Cello Square will expand its service areas to Vietnam and Singapore within this month following China, and will enhance logistics visibility by utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics technologies, thereby expanding its digital forwarding business.
