Jogyuil Jinju Mayor Holds Informal Meeting with FKI and Ambassadors of Major Countries in Korea

Promotion of History and Culture Including the Battle of Jinju Fortress and Jinju Tea Culture at Chokseokru

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jo Gyu-il, mayor of Jinju City, held a tea gathering on the 26th at Chokseokru with representatives from the Federation of Korean Industries and ambassadors from major countries stationed in Korea.

This event was arranged in connection with the Korean Entrepreneurship Exploration and Jinju October Festival viewing schedule held throughout Jinju City, Gyeongnam, on the previous day, the 25th, to introduce the millennium-long history and culture of Jinju.

At the beginning of the tea gathering, Mayor Jo explained the Battle of Jinju Fortress and the patriotic martyr Nongae, and the ambassadors from various countries agreed on the importance of history and culture.

In particular, Ekaterini Loupas, the Greek ambassador, said, “Preserving a country's history and culture is difficult but essential,” and added, “I hope Jinju City continues its efforts to inherit and develop tea culture.”

Mayor Jo said, “Jinju is the birthplace of Korea's tea culture and is striving to continue the tradition. We will also continue efforts to discover Jinju tea ceremonies and establish them as representative Korean tea ceremonies,” and added, “I hope you enjoy Jinju's culture and festival during the remaining schedule.”
