[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, is undertaking a project to create a lakeside walking trail at Okjeongho, allowing even walking-vulnerable individuals to comfortably enjoy the natural scenery of Okjeongho.
On the 26th, the county announced that it was finally selected in the ‘Barrier-Free Sharing Path’ project category of the 2023 Green Fund Support Project hosted by the Korea Forest Welfare Institute.
The Green Fund Support Project is funded by revenues distributed under the Lottery and Lottery Fund Act to support forest environment protection and function enhancement.
The barrier-free sharing path of the Green Fund Support Project aims to provide safe and barrier-free forest experience opportunities for walking-vulnerable groups by supporting the creation of forest trails using wooden decks and loess paving.
With the selection in the contest, the county secured 490 million KRW in funds for the creation of the barrier-free sharing path.
Accordingly, the Okjeongho Barrier-Free Sharing Path project will create a 1 km lakeside walking trail along Okjeongho from Mulanmaegil Course 2 in Yongun-ri, Unam-myeon, to the General Yang Daebak Monument.
The Okjeongho Barrier-Free Sharing Path is a 2.8 km section connecting Yosan Park Square to Yongun-ri, Unam-myeon, linked with the ongoing deck road installation around Bungeo Island promoted by the county.
It plans to create a safe and comfortable lakeside exploration path and resting area for transportation-vulnerable people, providing a space to heal while viewing the beautiful Okjeongho forest scenery and Bungeo Island.
Through this contest project, it is expected to provide an opportunity for transportation-vulnerable individuals who have difficulty using the already established Mulanmaegil to experience the beautiful forest and lakeside space of Okjeongho.
The county is making great efforts to create exploration trails in undeveloped sections of the Okjeongho lakeside through various contest projects.
It is also doing its best to enhance the completeness of the Okjeongho Mulanmaegil by systematic maintenance of the existing Mulanmaegil, aiming to make it a representative trail of Korea.
County Governor Shim Min said, “The creation of the Okjeongho Barrier-Free Sharing Path has provided an opportunity for walking-vulnerable groups to feel and experience the natural scenery of Okjeongho, which has a pristine natural landscape,” and added, “We will continue to strive to create exploration trails that anyone, regardless of age or gender, can use.”
