Kim Mujin Deputy Governor and Headquarters Chief Quickly Prepares Measures for Childcare Center Vehicle Traffic Accident
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Wook] Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongnam held an emergency meeting chaired by the deputy governor with related departments to quickly establish countermeasures for the traffic accident involving a daycare vehicle near Misan Village, Daeji-myeon.
On the 25th at around 10:20 a.m., a 5-ton truck rear-ended a 21-seat daycare vehicle that was waiting at a traffic signal, resulting in the death of one driver and injuries to 15 people including daycare children. Among them, 5 sustained minor injuries and returned home, 9 are hospitalized at Yeungnam University Hospital and other facilities, and the truck driver is under police investigation.
The county held an emergency meeting to promptly respond to the daycare traffic accident and discussed the formation of an accident response headquarters led by the county governor and the necessary measures.
Following the emergency meeting, the county plans to assign dedicated staff from the responsible departments to six hospitals where the severely injured daycare children are admitted, to quickly monitor patient conditions and trends and provide administrative assistance to the victims' families on site.
Deputy Governor Kim said, “I offer my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and victims due to the unexpected accident causing casualties. The county will swiftly organize a task force to do its utmost in managing the accident and wishes for the patients’ speedy recovery.”
